Ombattu Gudda, one of the highest peaks of the Western Range is located along the borderline of Chikmagalur and Hassan. The entire to and fro trekking activity of the peak -which derives its name from the Kannada word ‘ombattu’ (meaning 9) and ‘gudda’ (meaning hills) due to its location and appearance – would cover around 18km over two days.
Meet at around 10pm for your overnight journey from Bangalore. Following your early morning arrival at the basecamp in Sakleshpur, freshen up and have breakfast. Post this, start trekking around 8am towards the Kabbinale River. This 6-8 hours trek is a difficult one and on reaching the riverside, get into the camps beside the river for an overnight stay.
Next morning, after having breakfast in the camp, start the trek to the Ombattu Gudda peak around 8am and witness panoramic view of the entire hill range and the surroundings. After this, trek down to the basecamp in Kalasa, Chikmagalur; en route, have lunch. Depart the camp and start your return journey to Bangalore.

Standing tall at around 971 meters above ocean level Ombattu Gudda is located inside the Kabbinale Reserved Forest. This trek is considered as the most interesting trek as you get to explore a lot of wildlife away from civilization.
The woods are to a great degree Virgin with immense bamboos and thick foliage playing host to a scope of wildlife here like tiger, leopard, jungle cat, barking deer to gaur, sloth bear and, of course, the wild elephant. Head out for this amazing trek and get ready to experience the fun.
